Vitamin D Can Prevent and Treat Diabetes

Recent evidence shows that a sufficient supply of vitamin D can protect from the most common forms of diabetes: type 2, type 1 and gestational diabetes.
Meta-analyses of observational studies have shown that a low vitamin D level is an independent risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes. [7]
Individuals with a vitamin D level >25 ng/ml had a 43% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those with a severely deficient level below 14 ng/ml. [8]
Similarly, another study with people who had normal glucose levels or prediabetes showed that those with a level above 28 ng/ml had a 42% lower odds of developing or progressing to type 2 diabetes compared to those with a level below 18 ng/ml. [9]
However, the optimal range is well above 30 ng/ml.

Reversing type 2 diabetes means reducing blood sugar levels to a normal range without relying on medication.
This is achieved by addressing the root cause—insulin resistance—and creating conditions that allow your body to naturally regulate blood sugar.
